Dear Professor,

I hope this message finds you well.

As a UPS alumni and current Senior Organizer for Fuse Washington, I can see how huge of an impact the internships I took part in, while attending UPS had on my career. That’s why it’s exciting to let you know about an open internship we have for this spring and summer.

Fuse is Washington’s largest progressive organization, with over 100,000 members across the state who organize online and on the ground on issues that matter. An internship with Fuse will give your students hands-on experience in political and issue advocacy and an opportunity to network with local experts and see how campaigns really work.

We want to extend this opportunity to more local students and I hope that you can help us find the right students.

I've already posted our listing at Career Services, but I wanted to explain in a little more detail how our opportunities could benefit your students, so that you can help us get the word out.

Fuse interns work with our staff to develop the Progressive Voters Guide (viewed by over 100,000 Washingtonians), develop videos and materials disseminated throughout the progressive online community, and are given the opportunity to work with some of the best, most experienced political minds in the progressive community.

This spring we have several research and writing needs. Our growing research department examines PDC filings, news accounts, and produces issue papers and profiles of candidates and political organizations. Interns would come away with a deep knowledge of the progressive political landscape, as well as get research and writing experience.

Our organizing program is working to grow an offline community of activists building power in their districts with voter contact through phones, doors, house parties, block parties, and other neighborhood and community events. An intern here would gain invaluable experience in direct voter contact and strategy, and would be able to use these skills in other campaign work.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our program. We would be very grateful if you would recommend and forward this opportunity to students that may be interested. Please encourage them to apply, because nothing is more valuable than your recommendation in finding the best candidates. They can send a resume and brief cover letter to alex@fusewashington.org.

Thanks very much for your time,
--
