Campaign internship

Interested in Politics? Want to get involved in the community?

Friends of David Sawyer campaign is seeking energetic interns to help elect David Sawyer to the Washington State Legislature as the 29th Legislative District State Representative, Position 1. David is a law clerk studying to pass the bar and partner of a government affairs firm in downtown Tacoma. Before this, he was an organizer for President Obama in the historic 2008 Iowa Caucuses and has worked on numerous campaigns at the federal, state and local level.

Internship offers extensive, hands on experience in local politics. Students can expect to learn about political fundraising, field work, event planning and coalition building. Internship is unpaid but campaign is happy to work with student/college to grant class credit.

Responsibilities will include:

* Voter outreach through canvassing and calling

* Event coordination and participation

* Database management

* Voter registration

* Research

* Volunteer management

Qualifications:

* Ideal candidate is a detail orientated, independent self-starter.

* Must have access to a car or reliable other transportation.

* Available at least 4 hours a week

Internship is based in South Tacoma with opportunities to work from home and scheduling is very flexible around classes and work. Interns can arrange terms of commitment by semester but help through November 2012 is preferred.
