Internship Opportunity. Application deadline: Friday, July 3rd at 8 pm

Greetings, Professor:

My name is Kristina Holtrop and I have a virtual internship opportunity that might be of interest to your students. The Rebecca Parson congressional campaign is currently looking for part-time interns and fellows on a rolling basis. This is a unique opportunity to gain meaningful work experience remotely during COVID-19. Interns will get a chance to work with other interns from around the country and the world while learning about the inner workings of a local grassroots congressional campaign. Additionally, we are happy to work with schools to provide academic credit if applicable.
Over the course of the experience, interns and fellows will be exposed to many different aspects of a grassroots political campaign, including voter outreach, communications, policy research, community organizing, volunteer recruitment, data entry, donor research, small dollar fundraising, writing, press, social media, and more. No prior political experience is necessary, and we encourage students of all academic backgrounds to apply.
More info can be found on the application:

Please feel free to distribute this google form to interested students. Applications must be submitted by Friday, July 3rd, at 8:00pm for consideration to start the internship on Sunday the 5th, or if they're really ambitious, they can submit it by tonight at 8:00 to start working this Sunday.
I hope this can be an enriching opportunity for students in Washington's 6th Congressional District!

Sincerely,

Kristina Holtrop

WE CAN’T BREATHE: 400 YEARS OF INSTITUTIONALIZED VIOLENCE. Wed, June 3, 4–7pm PDT Via ZOOM

WE CAN’T BREATHE:  400 YEARS OF INSTITUTIONALIZED VIOLENCE
Virtual Teach-In and Community Gathering for University of Puget Sound Campus and Community Partners

As our community’s response to this moment with its heightened focus on the ongoing public killings of Black people and renewed focus and the need for Radical Re-imagination in our thinking on justice, racism, and the practices of white supremacy, we gather to push for and to bring change. We gather to educate ourselves, to raise our voices in protest, to stand in solidarity with Black people, to honor the memories of those killed, to grieve, to mourn, to reflect, and to find our way forward together.

Ours will be a virtual community gathering in three phases, led by the faculty of African American Studies, the Race & Pedagogy Institute, Puget Sound’s University Chaplain Rev. Dave Wright, Vivie Nguyen, Director for Intercultural Engagement, and Professor Robin Jacobson, Faculty Senate Chair, in collaboration with a range of faculty and staff members and community partners. Each phase will last for 45 minutes.

Phase One will be educational and will feature a teach-in and discussion.

Phase Two will be a forum for protest and creation, to include creative performance and action proposals.

Phase Three will be a time of spiritual centering and reflection to honor, to grieve, to bear witness to those who have been killed.
