Leah in Athens--a great study abroad blog

Leah Kennebeck has a great blog post on being in Athens in the midst of the turmoil.

Today (Tuesday, 2 days after the rioting) was the first time I ventured out of my neighborhood of Pangrati to see the destruction in Syntagma Square. Though the rubble had been cleared out, there were still fresh reminders of the riots, with burns marks on sidewalks and broken bus stop covers that people had apparently been standing on top of. Charred remains of several buildings were surrounded by policemen about a block off of the main square. The police here are quite unsettling, they linger all over the city center, looking for eye contact, as if daring you to protest...
