Hello! I am writing to inform you of an event that will be taking place on campus this weekend that may be of interest to faculty and students within your specific departments. On Saturday, March 29 F.I.G.H.T., an anti-human trafficking club at UPS, will be hosting a semi-formal benefit dinner in the Rotunda from 5:30-7:00pm. There will be a guest speaker from the Tronie Foundation, an organization located in Olympia that has recently opened one of the only shelters in the United States for victims of human trafficking. The speaker, Rani Hong, is herself a survivor and has spoken across the country, before government organizations, and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show. She will speaking about the realities of slavery's existence in the modern world, including the US. The event is free, including dinner and dessert, but donations are suggested and appreciated, as all funds collected will go directly to the Tronie Foundation. There will also be a small silent auction to help raise money. Space is somewhat limited, so RSVPs are also appreciated. Anyone interested may do so by e-mailing Alicia Portillo at lportillo@ups.edu.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Kammi Sheeler, F.I.G.H.T. member
