DC Intern Opportunity, Summer 2012

Dr. O’Neil,

My name is Drew Griffin and I am staff assistant for Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler in her DC office. I am beginning the process of looking for qualified summer interns to work in our DC office. I am actually a 2010 graduate from PLU and I know the quality students you have across town. If you would be able to inform students of this opportunity I would appreciate it. I will post the job opening in this e-mail. The internship is a great opportunity for students who are undergrads and want to get a feel of what a congressional office looks like as well as recent grads who are looking to get a foot in the door. The internship is unpaid, so interns would need to be able to afford living expenses. As a Republican office, we do ask for interns that are Republican. 3rd Congressional connections and Pacific Northwest ties in general are helpful. I appreciate any help you can provide in this matter.

Internship: The Office of Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, conservative individuals for summer internships. This internship provides ample opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Duties include answering phones and mail, conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol, and assisting staff members and Congresswoman Herrera Beutler with achieving our legislative goals and constituent outreach. Applicants must be self-motivated and work well in a team setting. Strong writing and communication skills are also a must. Third District/Washington (State) ties are a plus.

Applicant Instructions:
All interested persons should contact Drew Griffin, Internship Coordinator for Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, at 202-225-3536 or drew.griffin@mail.house.gov if he/she has any questions.
