Hi Professor O'Neil,

I am an organizer with Work for Progress, a non-profit organization committed to help activist-minded job seekers connect with progressive campaigns and organizations.  We are currently working with the Colorado Fair Share and Fair Share PAC to educate voters and re-elect President Obama.

Can you send out the description below to your students?

We are offering a terrific opportunity for students to volunteer on the Colorado Fair Share Alliance campaign. Students will have the chance to build enormous experience working on a grassroots campaign. And there are possible stipend and travel reimbursements available. Would it be possible for you to forward the description below to your students to let them know about this opportunity?

Thanks!

Check out this campaign opportunity a group in Colorado is doing!

Are you worried about what this election could mean for our country? Then take action this semester!

Work for Progress needs volunteers who communicate well, work hard and are passionate about creating real, positive social change, to come to Colorado to mobilize hundreds of thousands of voters to re-elect President Obama.

Are we going to continue developing into a country where the rich get richer and the rest of us are left behind? From how we deal with Citizens United and corporate money in politics to how we turn around our educational system, the choice is clear: President Obama believes in giving every American a fair shot and building our country from the bottom up. Governor Romney does not.

With the Presidential election fast approaching, we are building a concentrated effort to win the battleground state of Colorado for President Obama. This purple state could decide this year’s Presidential election. Volunteers will need to take a leave of absence from their classes through November 6 in order to join our campaign and take a stand for progress.

During this campaign you will build grassroots campaign experience by identifying, persuading and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of voters to get to the polls on Election Day. Leadership opportunities are available to you on our campaign. While working in our offices across the state you will build staff management experience and learn the political organizing skills that it takes to win campaigns.

Volunteers with requisite leadership skills will receive a $91/wk stipend, plus up to $30/day for reimbursing housing and up to $30/ day for reimbursing food.

These volunteers may also quality for a travel award depending on the length of time they can be on the campaign: if they come for four weeks or more, we’ll pay for round trip; if they come for three weeks, we’ll pay for their return trip; if they come for less than three weeks, they will receive stipends and housings and food reimbursements, but will be responsible for their own travel.
