On behalf of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), I invite you to participate in the first session of the Fall 2015 CFR Academic Conference Call series on Wednesday, September 9, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in WY 226. (ET). Paul D. Williams, associate professor of international relations at Georgetown University, will discuss conducting effective peace operations in Africa and offer policy recommendations for U.S. support of a stable and prosperous continent.
For those students who haven't done these or heard about them, these calls are an excellent opportunity to learn more about particular topics, listen to and ask questions of a national policy expert, and hear how students across the US and the world think about international relations. They are always very interesting, and I hope that you'll join me!
As background for the discussion, you may wish to review the following materials:
1) Paul D. Williams, “Four questions—and answers—about U.S. support of peacekeeping in Africa,” Monkey Cage, Blog, Washington Post, May 15, 2015.
2) Paul D. Williams, Enhancing U.S. Support for Peace Operations in Africa, Council Special Report No. 73, Council on Foreign Relations Press, May 2015.
Please RSVP to Professor Seth Weinberger at firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP if you're interested in attending!
Hope to see you there...
