Paid Field jobs and Interships in Congressional Race

We have an alum who is currently the campaign manager on this race (not the email listed below). A great way to get experience, work with an alum with DC experience, and work for someone who may be a new member of Congress for our area...

Description:

Spring/Summer/Fall internships available for Denny Heck’s congressional campaign.  Paid Field Organizer positions may be available too.

We are seeking ambitious, energetic interns and part-time campaign staff to help elect Denny Heck to Congress in Washington’s new 10th Congressional District. As the first Democratic candidate to run in the new 10th, this is a unique opportunity to jump into a congressional race at the ground level, take on real responsibility, and help build a grassroots campaign.

We value experience with campaigns, campus organizations, student government, academic or professional achievement, and outstanding verbal, written and communication skills.

Those seeking a fun few months of rewarding work with a seasoned campaign staff, in an atmosphere in which creative and critical thinking is promoted and listened to, are encouraged to apply (may count towards class credit).

Responsibilities: The campaign puts heavy emphasis on voter outreach. Our office near downtown Olympia will be the hub for all the Democratic campaigns in the Thurston County area. The campaign will be opening offices in Pierce County by June 1st, 2012.

Intern duties will include:

* Field: Furthering the goals of the Denny Heck for Congress field team by implementing our voter contact plan. This includes door-to-door canvassing and phone banking.
* Administrative: Assisting with day-to-day campaign, administrative operations.
* Finance: Database management and event-planning.
* Event planning and coordination – helping drive attendance, event logistics and planning.

Time-Commitment:
Scheduling is flexible. All interns are asked for a time commitment of between 12-20 hours per week.
