2023 GLP at The Bureau of Asian Research

NBR's Gorton Leaders Program (GLP) Fellows will participate in regular roundtables with foreign policy experts and distinguished guest speakers, receive tailored mentorship and networking opportunities, and learn about policy leadership.

Fellowship Eligibility:

• Be a community college, undergraduate, or graduate student.
• Be actively engaged in your community and/or pursuing a degree in Political Science or Foreign Area Studies field.
• Demonstrate strong potential for development on discussion topics.

Details:

• 6-Month Fellowship: January - June 2023 
• In-person meetings on select Fridays from 3:30PM-5PM (date/time subject to change)

Expectations:

• Application is due November 27, 2022!
• Show an interest in topics related to policy & international affairs.

CivicSpark is an award-winning AmeriCorps program dedicated to building capacity for community resilience issues such as climate, water, housing, and mobility. Launched in 2014 in California, CivicSpark is coming to Washington!

Starting this fall, 20 CivicSpark Fellows will have an opportunity to build a sustainability career by spending 11 months supporting local organizations with sustainability and social impact projects on topics including sustainable transportation, energy efficiency, climate action planning, water conservation, and drought response, and affordable housing, among others. Fellows gain community and career experience, training to become future leaders in the response to community resilience issues.

Purpose:

The Christopher R. Pohlad Fund for Faculty and Student Research was established to provide students the opportunity to travel abroad, further develop relationships with faculty members, and contribute in a meaningful way to their study of politics and government. 

Eligibility:

• Rising junior or seniors
• Declared major or minor in the Politics & Government department
• Interested in international travel

Award & Requirements:

The award will provide $3000 for international travel to one or more countries, pursuing an activity, or participating in a program related to the study of politics or government.
