Panorama Project Opportunity // Deadline May 21st

Happy Monday everybody! Here is an exciting message from a friend at Carleton:

"My name is Michael Schultz – I am a Junior at Carleton College and an organizer of a student-led initiative called the Panorama Project, which offers a great summer opportunity for the students in your department. This initiative will bring together a diverse group of students, faculty, and members of civic organizations from around the country to collaborate on works of journalism that explore topics in U.S. politics and history. Each piece of media will be authored jointly, by a team of two or more students of different backgrounds and political persuasions. The diversity of perspectives on each team will offer opportunities for participants to not only encounter other ways of framing contentious issues but also to reckon with the assumptions and evidence that those who disagree with them use for their arguments. We will publish participants’ work on a website devoted to the findings of our project. The Panorama Project is made possible through a grant from Davis Projects for Peace." https://www.davisprojectsforpeace.org/
Anyone who wants to learn more or apply can visit our website(https://thepanoproject.com/), and any further questions can be directed to me at michael@thepanoproject.com. The project is not a full-time summer commitment, and we are accepting applications until May 21st.

Summer Opportunity: Democracy Summer w/ Derek Kilmer, Deadline May 7th

Democracy Summer - developed by Maryland Congressman (and law professor) Jamie Raskin - is an educational program dedicated to training the next generation of political activists, organizers, and leaders. In 2021, for the first time ever, Democracy Summer is expanding nationally in partnership with the DCCC and Democratic campaigns across America. We are proud to be a partner campaign this year and bring the program to our region!

Throughout the six week course (Monday, June 21st - Friday, July 31st), Fellows will learn from great activist heroes, young and old political leaders, Democratic policy experts and top political and community organizers across the country. Democracy Summer Fellows with Team Kilmer will also work directly with our campaign. Through this organizing work, Fellows will receive an intensive practical training in the key skills of Democratic campaigning: electoral strategy, field organizing, door-to-door canvassing, phone-banking, text banking, fundraising, policy development and campaign messaging, social media and digital strategy, rally and online organizing, event planning, scheduling, and campaign management.

Fellows will receive a $500 stipend, and they can expect to work Monday-Thursday for a total of 20-30 hours per week.

More info can be found here, and the application can be found here.

The application deadline is Friday, May 7th, so make sure to apply ASAP!

DEADLINE: March 30

We are The Commons! The Commons is the University of Puget Sound’s undergraduate journal of politics. We are a student run publication founded in the Spring of 2020. For our first two issues submissions were closed to students outside of UPS to allow us time to establish roots and grow. This semester we are expanding our submission pool to four other PNW universities. We hope this gives us a greater variety of views!

But we still want to see your work! This is the Puget Sound journal after all! This is a journal for undergraduates by undergraduates. What you have to say is important and we want to provide a platform for your voice to be heard.

We are looking for submissions from any discipline as long as they are addressing a political question. Submissions can be from any part of your academic career - we want to hear your interesting ideas and perspectives!

Technical requirements:
5-25 pages, including bibliography
7 sources minimum required
Currently enrolled as a full time undergraduate student at your university

(please remove any identifying marks/content and formatting before submitting your work)
