AmeriCorps VISTA Opportunities at Washington Attorney General's Office

The Office of Military and Veteran Legal Assistance at the Washington Attorney General’s Office has contacted us with two job opportunities for recent or upcoming grads. Our program connects low-income veterans, service members, and their families with civil legal resources, including pro bono attorneys and civil legal aid organizations in Washington. We also provide training to attorneys who serve the military and veteran community and advocate for policy changes on behalf of the community in the state legislature.

They are hiring a community outreach coordinator to connect military and veteran community members to our program as well as a training institute coordinator to help  develop and launch a training program for pro bono attorneys. Here is the posting for the outreach coordinator, and here is the posting for the training institute coordinator (known as the “resource capacity building” VISTA). Their VISTA members get to work on or contribute to public policy development, community engagement and outreach, and engagement with government and nonprofit leaders across Washington.

The positions are out of Olympia. They’re full-time, so while students can technically be attending school, they’ve found it’s usually better to have new or recent grads apply. The positions are available immediately, but if a student hasn’t graduated yet and they’re the right fit, they’ll push their start date.
