Healthy Democracy Program Support Intern Position

Healthy Democracy is a US-based nonpartisan nonprofit that designs and coordinates innovative deliberative democracy programs. 
The Program Support Intern will assist with the logistics, coordination, and general administration for a unique participatory process called the Citizens’ Initiative Review.
 In past years, the Program Support Intern has played a critical role in helping to plan for and carry out Citizens’ Initiative Reviews in Oregon and elsewhere. Individuals who are interested in participatory democracy, collaborative governance and/or public engagement are encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter for consideration, More information can be found at the Healthy Democracy website. This is an unpaid internship that runs from June through August 2018, and there is flexibility for the intern to work either full-time or part-time.

Denny Heck for Congress Field Organizer Position

Field Organizer
Competitive Western Washington Democratic congressional campaign is seeking full time Field Organizers to build a grassroots voter contact effort to re-elect a Member of Congress. Organizers will be in charge of recruiting, managing and coordinating volunteers as well as performing direct voter contact.

Start Date/End Date: May/Early June- November 15

Location: Puget Sound Region (Washington State)

Responsibilities include:
·      Representing the campaign in the community
·      Working with the field director to implement voter contact efforts and events in their region
·      Building a long-term volunteer infrastructure in their assigned area
·      Collaborating and managing volunteer leadership to successfully plan events such as canvasses, phone banks, and voter registration drives.
·      Managing training and motivating volunteers

Qualifications:
·      Previous experience on Democratic campaigns encouraged
·      Strong organizational skills
·      Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
·      Dedication to empowering volunteers and a belief in moving progressive causes forward
·      Goal orientated and willing to hold oneself accountable as a member of a team
·      Excellent personal, verbal and written communication skills
·      Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, on a regular basis.
·      Access to transportation

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Healthcare benefits available.
