2014 UNITED NATIONS SUMMER SESSION

As many of you know, the Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI) established the Higher Education Alliance two years ago to increase international opportunities for our university students.  This summer we are happy to be promoting the “2014 United Nations Summer Session” at United Nations Headquarters and in Washington D.C., running from June 9th to the 13th (Monday through Friday).

We are opening up this opportunity to all universities so more students can take advantage. We are looking forward to meeting many new faces this year!

An Opportunity in Diplomacy
The week is designed for thirty highly-motivated university students pursuing careers in related fields. Students will meet senior policymakers and engage in discussions with officials from a wide range of public and private agencies involved in global affairs.

Highlights include unique access to UNICEF, UNDP, and United Nations career guidance where students will get inside information on how the UN works. Students can apply for college credits at their universities after the program. Contact me with any questions or go to this link to sign up: http://thehdi.org/higher_education_alliance_sis.html

Campaign Volunteer Opportunities

My name is Hope Bixby. I am Greg Baruso's (D-30th LD) campaign manager and a '12 alumna. Greg Baruso is a first-time candidate running against an incumbent to represent the 30th Legislative District in the Washington State House.

Greg Baruso is a firefighter captain with 28 years of service, the Chair of the Federal Way Diversity Committee, the Director of the Martin Luther King Federal Way Food Drive, and is constantly looking for new ways to support his community.

In order to promote Greg's message of improving education, government accountability, job security, and public safety, the campaign needs volunteers to participate in Get Out The Vote and campaign events running through the summer and up to the election in November.

Anyone interested in participating in a high-energy campaign should contact me at hope.bixby@gmail.com or on (360) 562 7999.

Thank you,

Hope Bixby

Elect Greg Baruso (D)

REACH Center: 4 Americorps Positions Available

Hi everyone,
Congrats on making it through another school year. I'm sure you're all busy so I'll keep this quick:

The REACH Center is looking to hire 4 AmeriCorps to serve 10.5 month terms starting in September. We're looking for recent grads who have an interest in social justice, human services and/or working with youth. In the past three years we've hired 7 of our AmeriCorps into regular, full-time positions after their terms have expired. These positions are a great opportunity to make connections, learn more about nonprofits, and help some great students achieve success.

I've attached job descriptions below but we always end up tailoring our positions to fit the employee's passions. If you or any of your students are interested or have questions just let me know. Thanks!
